Courts are thought of as confluxes of rationality where science rules supreme. Judges are hailed as vindicators that take their time to make a judgment because they are constrained by rules of evidence. What I discovered late October 2022 is that none of that is true. Courts are conclaves of quasi-rational authority figures that perform religious rites and dispense justice according to religious principles.
According to the theory of evolution, which is the predominant scientific explanation for the perfection of life on Earth, the weak die while the strong survive. It's a dog-eat-dog world out there; only the strongest (pack of) dog(s) survives. That means I should be allowed to randomly kill an old person — he or she was too old and too weak to escape me and thus they forfeited their life.
Logically speaking, we should be culling the weak and thinning the herd to relieve pressure on the infrastructure and leave more resources for the strongest of us. There doesn't to be any kind of Running Man scenario for this; simply allow people to kill each other and you will suddenly get an increase in decency. Of course, this argument would never fly in court.
A court would declare murder of the slow, dumb, and infirm morally wrong and would refuse to hear any argument to the contrary. Why? Because it's one of Commandments — thou shall not kill, thus proving courts adhere to religious dogmas rather than logic, science, and reason.
